Earth and Stone Wood Fire Pizza #AuntBeeEatsHuntsville
#AuntBeeEatsHunstville is a weekly series highlighting some of our favorite spots in Huntsville and Madison, Alabama! If you would like your restaurant to be considered for a review, email me at auntbeesrecipes@gmail.com.
Happy Wednesday! I hope all my American readers had an AMAZING 4th! I am so excited for this weeks edition of #AuntBeeEatsHuntsville!
A fellow Rocket City Blogger Friend actually was the one that recommended Earth and Stone Pizza and boy am I glad he did! (Bo from BoWilliams.com Please check out his blog, he is so smart and funny!) His son actually requested to eat there for his birthday this year so I knew right then it needed to be a part of #AuntBeeEatsHuntsville.
From their website:
”Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza was started in May 2013 by Stan Stinson and Tina Ford as a mobile pizza vendor and caterer….”
”….We sold pizzas everywhere — farmer’s markets, food truck rallies, private catering, company parties, graduations, weddings, sporting events, church socials and picnics, Redstone Arsenal, festivals, you name it.”
”…Two short years later, we were collaborating with Yellowhammer Brewing to have our pizza joint inside the Yellowhammer brewery building, which is located at Huntsville’s newest entertainment district, known as Campus 805…”
”…While craft pizza and craft beer are a perfect duo, a perfect trio is even better. We have created a house made ice cream that sets the bar for sweet treats. We push the envelope with our adult ice cream, our signature flavor is bourbon butter pecan. Stan makes a variety of flavors depending on the availability of ingredients and the season….”
I contacted one of the owners, Stan, and told him about the series and he was MORE than happy to answer all of my (LOTS) of questions.
He told me what his most popular menu items are to help us decide which to order. (Check out their menu here. They all sound SO GOOD!) One thing that is a little different about this pizza joint, is not only are they well known for having amazing pizza, but they have HANDMADE ice creams including ADULT FLAVORS that I have been told were a MUST TRY! (It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!)
Now I have to tell you something before I go any further. Uncle Bee’s favorite foods in the entire world, are pizza and ice cream. He could eat pizza and ice cream every single day and never get tired of it. So to say he was excited about our dinner date would be putting it MILDLY.
As soon as we walked in the delicious aroma of their pizza hit our noses and we knew we were in for a special TREAT!
Chantay was our order taker and she was as sweet as pie and I wanted to take her home with me! The manager Maddie was great too! She made us feel right at home the whole time we were there.
In order to try as many types as possible, we ordered 3 small pizzas to share.
First up was the Infamous Tommy G. This pizza was actually named after Bo’s friend LOL so we had to try it!
Can I just stop right here a second and tell you how hard it is to just eat one slice of amazing pizza? It really is a struggle. I knew I needed to save room for the other pizzas and dessert but it was all I could do to not have a second…or 3rd… slice.
The Infamous Tommy G has red sauce, mozzarella/provolone, pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, fresh baby spinach, and fresh basil. The pizza’s are cooked in white-fired oak ovens at 850 degrees so we got our pizza FAST! Which was good because we were starving lol. One important part of doing these reviews is ARRIVING VERY HUNGRY!
We absolutely loved the Infamous Tommy G!
Next up was my friend Bo’s favorite: The Peppadew. Not only was this my favorite pizza of the night, this was quite possibly the best pizza I ever tried! The Peppadew has white sauce, mozzarella/provolone, Italian sausage, Peppadews, arugula, and Humble Heart Farms goat cheese.
My hubby isn’t a huge pepper fan and even he loved this one. Next time I go, I will order this whole one for myself though LOL
Last but certainly not least, was Uncle Bee’s favorite! He said this was the best pizza he has ever tried in Alabama and he KNOWS his pizza, so that is a big deal. The Porkenhammer is Mozzarella/Provolone, pepperoni, bacon, Italian Sausage, white sauce, red onion, arugula, and a spicy drizzle. Y’all it is all about that spicy drizzle. This was SO unbelievably GOOD!
Just a note about how good this pizza is. I never eat the leftover crust on pizza, and I ate the crust of each slice of pizza I had.
We were SO unbelievably full at this point. I honestly felt like there was no way I would be able to eat dessert. But I had promised Owner Stan that we would try the ice cream. So I pushed through 😉
I mean look at this selection!
The flavor they are MOST famous for is the Adult Butter Pecan. It sells out every day though and it was already gone by the time we got there Sunday at 5:30! They were apologizing for being out of it and I told them it was FINE because all that meant is we were going to have to come back again to try it! LOL!
I actually sampled every single flavor they had that day. (Research purposes of COURSE!) And I promise you they were all the best ice cream I have ever tasted. You can’t go wrong with any of their flavors.
After much deliberation, we decided to go with the Butterfinger and the Irish Coffee flavors. What a GREAT ending to a phenomenal meal!
If you live in North Alabama, or are traveling through, you NEED TO put Earth and Stone Pizza on your MUST TRY list! They are opening a second location in the next month or two DANGEROUSLY close to where we live in Madison, Alabama. I can’t wait to check it out. Get there early enough to try some of the legendary Butter Pecan and tell them Aunt Bee sent you!
While I did not receive compensation for this post, Earth and Stone did graciously offer to host us as their guests. All opinions are my own.
