Creamy Tomato Soup
Do y’all remember Mr. Food? I remember watching his segments on our local news station when I was growing up. I LOVED his excitement about the recipes he was sharing and his tag line, ‘Ohhhh it’s SO good!’ I have made quite a few of his recipes and they never disappoint! When I came across his Creamy Tomato Soup, I couldn’t believe how easy the recipe was! This soup was ready in under 10 minutes. I am sorry to say I had never made homemade tomato soup before! Mostly just because we liked the canned stuff along with our Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Well, not anymore. Canned tomato soup is ruined for me now! This was seriously delish!
Creamy Tomato Soup (recipe source)
Ingredients
2 (28-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp chopped fresh basil or 1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 cups heavy cream
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a large soup pot, combine tomatoes, sugar, basil, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and slowly stir in cream. Simmer 4 to 5 more minutes, or until heated through. Do not allow to boil. Generously season with salt & pepper to taste.
