Slow Cooker Apple Butter Pork Chops
I am SO excited to share this recipe with you guys. You see, my FAVORITE recipes are tried and true recipes passed down from friends and family. This recipe is actually one sent in to me by one of Y’all! BigMarty has been a friend on our facebook page for a while and he shared his delicious Apple Butter pork chop recipe with us and I just couldn’t wait to try them. They turned out even more delicious than I ever thought possible. They were SO easy to make and made my house smell just as amazing as you would expect with the yummy pork and apple butter cooking away in the crock pot. We served these delicious pork chops over saffron rice with my granny’s green beans. A huge thank you to BigMarty for sending us this recipe. If any of y’all have a tried and true recipe you would like to share, inbox me on the facebook page or email me!
BigMarty’s Apple Butter Pork Chops
Ingredients
8 boneless pork chops
salt & pepper to taste
1 – 2 Tbsp oil
1 onion chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
28 oz apple butter (BigMarty recommended name brand but my store was out so I bought kroger brand)
1 cup apple sauce
Directions
Salt and pepper pork chops and brown in a frying pan in a Tablespoon or 2 of oil as needed. I browned about 3 minutes per side. Place chops in the bottom of your slow cooker. Top with onions and garlic. In a medium bowl, pour apple butter. Put 1 cup of apple sauce in the apple butter jar, close the lid and shake it. As BigMarty says, ‘To get the good out of it.’ Combine the apple sauce with the apple butter in the bowl and pour into the slow cooker. Cook on high for 3 1/2 hours. (I believe you could also cook on low for 6 hours if desired, but your chops may become even more tender and fall apart.) Taste to adjust seasonings (We loved ours with a little garlic salt right before serving. SO GOOD!)
The Leftovers: Big Marty told me these made great sandwiches so with the 2 chops leftover I shredded them up and added a tablespoon apple cider vinegar and about 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce and made the best bbq sandwich you ever put in your mouth. I may double this recipe and use half for barbecue sammys next time!
