Italian Pizza Sub
The following is a sponsored post on behalf of Aidell’s Sausage. All opinions are my own.
Stop what you are doing and go to grocery store and get the ingredients to make these Italian Pizza Subs. You guys, these pizza subs are amazing! The whole time we were eating them, in between bites my family said these were their favorite sandwiches ever! (And y’all know much we love our sandwiches!)
I mentioned to my sister that I was asked to create a recipe for Aidells® Sausage Varieties at Publix. She said, oh those are SO good! Y’all are going to love them! She was so right. She is always right 😉
I did my research and found out that Aidells® Sausage is gluten free, contains no nitrates or added hormones. It’s also Whole30 approved for those of you that are into that kinda thing 😉 All sausages are hand-crafted with real hand-picked ingredients in small batches with care. Ok, I was sold.
I also love any excuse to pop into our local Publix, because it is one of my favorite stores! So clean, so many high quality products, the employees are friendly and helpful, and they keep enough cashiers that the lines are never long! I found the Aidells® Italian Style with Mozzarella Cheese and started imagining the Italian Pizza Subs of my dreams!
Once home, I got to work slicing veggies and the sausage.
Just like a personal pizza, everyone was able to pick and choose which veggies went in their own sub! For any veggies that you prefer to be a little more on the cooked side, (like fresh mushrooms, onions or bell pepper), you can give them a quick saute with your sliced sausages.
And just like that, we piled the yummy meat, cheese, veggie & sauce ingredients in our subs and wrapped them in foil to bake. My 6 year old was my big helper for this meal, so he was excited to write everyone’s names on their subs so we would know who’s each was for. And to make EXTRA SURE he didn’t have any *yucky* black olives on his 😉
I can’t believe how delicious these subs turned out! I hope you give them a try and love them as much as we did!
Ingredients
- 6 sub rolls, split
- 1 lb thinly sliced mozzarella
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced ham
- 8 oz thinly sliced salami
- 1 package Aidells® Italian Style Sausage with Mozzarella, sliced
- marinara sauce
- 6 oz pepperoni
- *veggies of your choice: onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, black olives, banana peppers
Instructions
Cook sausage according to package directions. If desired, just add a couple of tablespoons of oil and you can cook any veggies you want with your sausage in the pan. Set aside. Open up sub rolls and layer ingredients as follows: mozzarella cheese, then ham, salami, sausage, veggies, marinara sauce, pepperoni then more cheese. Finally add the top of the sub bread and wrap each sandwich in foil. Label each one with a marker if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Enjoy!
*In order to keep sandwiches from getting soggy, ( I really hate a soggy sandwich) I let the veggies sit on a couple of paper towels for 10 minutes or so to absorb as much liquid as possible before prepping sandwich
